♪ right now heat wave number six is about to come to an end. all thanks to this rain heading our way tonight. live radar showing the line of showers moving in. >> looking live at trenton right now. you've seen some rain the past few hours. i'm lucy noland. >> i'm dawn timmy. >> scott williams tracking this system and of course everyone wanting to know just how much rain are we talking about when will it start scott. >> it looks like several inches of rainfall for some but it all depends on locations but we need the rainfall across the area. it could produce some localized flooding. ponding on the roads just because it's been so dry. also, as you mentioned some cooler air will be moving in with this system. ultimate doppler right now, pretty quiet for most. a couple of light showers in central sections of delaware around dover. also as you move north and west away from the pocono mountains even thunderstorm activity showing up. but as explain the view take a look at all of the green, all of this moisture will be headed in

for mass on sunday the 27th which she desperately wants to tend. >> i hope i can somehow obtain ticket through somebody else that got an extra one. but we'll see. >> reporter: 10,000 tickets were available gone in 30 seconds. tickets to the papal festival snapped up this afternoon in just minutes. the same to see the pope at independence mall. now some who got them are also selling them on sites like e-b e-bay. today, just minutes after they were made available, we found listing that is read $250 each. four for thousand dollars. allison burns says her family has been trying for months to find a way to see pope francis. >> able to get a ticket through the lottery and my mom thinking about coming down because she was here for the original visit in the '80s. >> reporter: the other big news released today people still looking for place to stay now have the option to camp out at east fairmount park or francis field as it's being called. the site will include showers, first aid supplies, water, food vendors and restrooms.

caught them delivering drugs and contraband to inmates. fox 29's brad sattin is in the newsroom. this is an investigation that's been going on for while. >> reporter: you're right. corrections officers charged in recent years but the commissioner wanted an even deeper investigation and he got one. now the us attorney says six more officers were caught up in it. >> prison safety depends on prison guards acting with honesty and integrity. >> reporter: this six guards weren't doing it. accusing the guards from several city prisons of smuggling drugs and contraband in he can change for between 500 and $1,500 in cash. >> the individual guards are charged with using their badge to extort money from the individual inmates who were seeking oxy couldn't ton and cell. >> reporter: all an fbi sting that ran from the fall of 2013 till the end of last year. unbee nouned to the guards the drugs weren't real. >> several employees were engaged in this activity for

sometime. one was nine years on the job. we don't know how deep the activity was. but after seizing street drugs in our facilities and cell phones we knew we needed assistance. >> reporter: official say inmate with an unmonitored cell phone is a security risk. >> they can use them to transfer messages. they can use them to intimidate witnesses. they can use them to further criminal enterprises. >> reporter: prison commissioner says we've seen what crooked insider which is. to. >> the recent escape of convicted murderers richard matt and david sweat in new york state is a prime example of the degree of danger corrupt corrections employees present. >> reporter: in response the officers union reminds us they're innocent until proven guilty also blaming quote the city's archaic residency requirement which forces the brave men and women to live in the same neighborhoods as the criminals facing pressure and threats from family members of inmates asking is it really surprising that the prisons have a problem with contraband? >> we can tell you it doesn't appear at this point corrections

officers were involved were working together in any way. they are being given time at this point to turn themselves in. meanwhile the eighty six they are is promising to keep up the pressure on any corrupt guards that still could be out l lucy. >> brad. someone has been stealing tires and rims right off car at two dealerships in bucks county. police just released this surveillance video of a man they want to talk to. on friday a car lot on bustleton pike in feasterville had nearly $10,000 in tires and rims stol stolen. the day before another dealership on lincoln highway in falls township had six wheels taken. police are looking into whether the thefts are related. a philadelphia woman will face live in prison for her role in the so-called tacony dungeon case. today 55-year-old linda wes tin pleaded guilty to holding disable adults in a squallerred basement over 10 year period. prosecutors say it was all part of horrible scheme where she and three family members stole the victim's social security and disability benefits.

investigators uncovered the trail of terror in 2011 finding four abused people inside the basement of the tacony building. police say two others died in her care in 2005 and 2008. she has agreed to life in prison plus an additional 80 years sentence. new details tonight about a fiery plain crash in massachusetts last year that killed a philadelphia newspaper co owner and sick other people. transportation safety officials say crew members faileed to a free -- a pre flight check. investigators also found that the pilots left the wing flaps locked in place essentially keeping the aircraft parked on the ground. the pilots still tried taking off but didn't realize their mistake until it was too late. that jet went off the runway crashing into a ravine and bursting into flames. everyone on board was killed including philadelphia inquirer coach owner lewis katz. >> good news albeit temporary for 200 teachers in the chester upland school dice trick. a judge has ordered the state to

since the state has been running this district. so i commend them. >> reporter: district officials spent the morning in a media courtroom squabble link with the state department of education over what else, funding. the teacher paychecks do nothing to fix a broken funding formula that has parents fuming. >> to continue to paid aid the school district does not get the school district out of deficit. >> reporter: teachers like bell keep coming back day after day with few promises but lots of hope. >> we're dedicated to our children. our children need us, and without us, we don't know where they would would be. >> reporter: the judge's ruling that provided the funding for teachers salaries did not include $8 million in requests for vendor funding. these are folks who provide goods and services that keep these schools running on a daily basis. so the teachers have gotten their money but not everyone has been paid. the district's troubles contin continue. in chester, i'm bruce gordon, fox 29 news. ♪ a couple of young boys out fishing for the afternoon real in a dangerous catch.

philadelphia police are hoping somebody recognizes this man. they say he robbed a pope deli in olney on august 25th. now investigators say he ordered some food, came back about their minutes later to pick it up but instead of leaving with the food police say he pulled a gun then left the cash -- then left with cash from the register. if you know who he is, you know what to do, just give police a call. a new neighbor pops up in a south philadelphia neighborhood and it has some folks doing a real double take. >> yes. what their eyes did not see a photo captured. a picture of a deer roaming the streets. fox 29's chris o'connell is live in south philly much chris, it goes without saying a deer in the neighborhood is a rare site. >> reporter: yeah, guys, dear sightings in pennsylvania, even parts of the city not that uncommon. but one galloping down the middle of ritner street in south

early monday morning as this man left the saint martin of torres school in somerdale. in those bags he's carrying about $5,000 worth of laptops and computer equipment. police say he got in through a window, ransacked classrooms and grabbed the electronic. >> as soon as i saw the bag in the middle of the hallway i thought i might have scared somebody and they might still be in the building so i high tailed it out and called 911. >> police say he also cut power lines to the school's fire alarm system. forcing school officials to cancel classes the next day. if you recognize him, philadelphia police want to very much like to hear from you. two weeks ago a playground in a west philadelphia neighborhood was the scene of a shooting. three people hurt including a 10-year-old little girl hit by stray bullet right in the middle of the day. fox 29 weekend anchor karen hepp was at that playground but what she found there may also make you very angry for different reasons. >> reporter: no parent would want their kids to play here at claiborne lewis park the way we

bar's manager who says the robbery left his employees simply traumatized. >> he come here because he feel safe here. >> reporter: the 32n 32nd street pub is a well-known spot to have a beer on allegheny avenue. it's been open for over 30 year. early monday morning these gun toting bandits invaded the bar as it was closing terrifying employees. >> frightful to see that people just come in with guns and take what you work hard for. >> reporter: robbery was caught on tape as the gunmen threaten the bartender saying don't do anything or i'll blow your head off. >> they were frightened. my night manager did what he needed to do to get the guys out of here without anyone getting hurt. >> they seem to probably have been used to this type of behavior and done this numerous times before. >> reporter: the gunmen emptied the catch register. the bartender was taken to rear office where more money was stolen. >> terrified, scared to come

husband's death. (inaudible). >> six of the seven grandchildren went to the hospital. one of them suffered a concussion and a skull fracture. another had a sprained ankle. doctors do expect all of them to be okay. second chance at life tonight for this seal found on a south jersey beach on valentine's day. some folks on the beach discover the little guy in monmouth county. he had lacerations on his neck and he had puncture wounds on his back. the seal is partially paralyzed can't use his flipper. the team at the marine mammal stranding center nursed the seal back to health and he'll now live at a virginia aquarium. that's nice. >> aww. on your radar tonight, after beating our sixth heat wave we're looking at much needed rain. scott. >> we really need the rainfall. take look at the latest drought monitor. the new one will come out tomorrow. most of the area in particular

south jersey abnormally dry. so we're talking several inches bow where we should be for this time of year. take a look at the numbers here. it was 90 monday. 94 degrees yesterday. 93 degrees today. 1 degree away from a record making it the sixth heat wave of the year. but some heat relief is on the way and also some beneficial rains. 80 degrees right now in millville. 77 in trenton. we're looking at 80 in pottsto pottstown. upper 60s the cool spot right now in the pocono mountains. so mostly cloudy skies tomorrow, grab an umbrella. we're looking at light showers around to start the day it look like the heaviest of the rainfall will hold off until tomorrow afternoon and evening. ultimate doppler right now showing few areas experiencing some rain but take look as we scan the view. here's the system out to the west. that will continue to head in our direction during the overnight as well as tomorrow with that front. it will bring the clouds, the showers and eventually some cooler temperatures.

so overnight here's 2am we're looking at a few scattered showers across the area. then by 8:00 a.m., it's mostly cloudy. just a few areas of some light showers once again that heavier rain will hold off until the afternoon. here's 2:00 o'clock. we're looking at some of the heavier rain moving up with the orange, the yellow as well as the red. by 4:00 in the afternoon we're still looking at that heavy band moving in from the west. so for your thursday afternoon and evening commute, it's going to be kind of wet, dodging those puddles and downpours across the area. here's 8:00 o'clock tomorrow. then by 10:00 o'clock still looking at some leftover showers then most of the action gets out of here as we move toward your friday with that cooler air moving in temperatures dropping into the 50s. but take a look some of the mow potential totals here. talking over 2-inch along the i-95 corridor, some locations could easily exceed 3-inches. you can see pottstown, painting even four, 4.5-inches for the trenton area. so here's the bottom line on average one to 2-inches. the heaviest of the rain

particularly lavish accommodations by any means. it's very practical and we certainly will do our best to accommodate the holy father's expectations and make it a comfortable stay for him. >> reporter: seminary was founded in the 1830s by francis kendrick the first bishop of philadelphia. it has seen great expansion throughout the generations all the while serving as a four-year educational and spiritual home for aspiring priests. its current leader bishop timothy senior found hits calling here too. >> as a young man i felt all of a sudden connected to the universal mission of the church as worldwide institute with a worldwide mission. >> reporter: there's a a big reason for that. you see bishop senior was studying here back in 1979 when of the row was made here. in the form of a visit from pope john paul ii. it was trance zenning. >> i felt deep within my heart a calling.

a strengthening to the vocation that i had already started to experience that's why i was in the seminary. but i felt that affirmed, somehow i was where i belonge b. just very filled with zeal and eager to recommit myself to what i was about as seminarian and time proven as a priest for 30 years. >> reporter: and now 36 years later, bishop timothy is set to witness another papal visit. >> i never would have imagined that i would be an auxiliary bishop at philadelphia, director of saint charles borromeo seminary and have the opportunity to welcome pope francis. >> it's a sense of awe and god's providence and but also excitement. this opportunity to really be all that it can be for the seminarians who we have the great joy of serving here at saint charles but beyond that for the church in philadelphia and for the whole community. >> so much history here at saint
